Wesley's Plan of Salvation "...if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!" (2 Corinthians 5:17) We specialize in building new lives. Come and Discover the Difference in our Worship Services, Sunday School, Oasis Youth Ministry, Wednesday Night Live, Choir, Imagine Worship, Women of Worship, and in many of the other groups that meet regularly at First United Methodist Church of Midland.
Follow these four simple steps...
Accept God's Love - This is the most wonderful truth in the world. God loves each one of us, whoever we are, and no matter what we have done. Every one of us can say, "I am loved by God." John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life." God's love includes everyone, but not everyone accepts that love.
Respond with Faith - Though tragically separated from God by sin, we can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-not the result of works, so that no one may boast."
Submit to the Spirit - When we submit to God's Holy Spirit, Romans 8:16 promises: "...it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God." For some, this confidence dawns gradually, for others, it is a sudden discovery at the moment of faith. For John Wesley it was gradual but powerful: "I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation: and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins...."
Aim at Perfect Love - Romans 5:5 says: "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us." When we receive God's love, we cannot help but desire to love others as He loved us. To aim at "perfect love" is to seek to love as God loves, even the most unlovable.
